Acceptable Use & Listing Guidelines
Draft last updated
Draft — pending qualified legal review.
This page is a working draft dated 13 October 2026. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not yet in force. Text in highlighted brackets is information the owner or counsel still has to supply.
1. Who these rules apply to
Everyone using Sleeves Up. Builders: member businesses and their staff, homeowners, and visitors. They sit alongside the Terms of Service.
2. Business listing rules
Listings are reviewed before they go live, and content can be paused or removed later if it breaks these rules.
A listing must:
- represent a real business that you own or are authorised to manage;
- describe only services the business actually offers, in the areas it actually serves, and holds any licence required to advertise or perform;
- show licence numbers, credentials, and claims (including veteran ownership) that are accurate and current, and that match the evidence submitted for review;
- use photos and logos you own or have permission to use;
- keep public contact details current.
A listing must not:
- display badges, seals, or verification claims that were not issued on the platform;
- impersonate another business or person;
- include pricing or guarantees that are misleading;
- include content prohibited below.
State contractor-advertising rules can require specific information in advertisements, such as a licence number. [COUNSEL TO REVIEW: whether listings must display licence numbers in particular states]
3. Review rules
Reviews must be based on a genuine experience with the business. Do not:
- review your own business, a competitor, or a business you have a close tie to;
- offer, request, or accept payment, discounts, or other incentives for a review;
- include another person’s personal information (such as a phone number or address);
- post hateful, harassing, or threatening content, or spam;
- review the wrong business.
Businesses may post one public response to a review. They cannot edit or delete reviews of their own listing, and must not pressure a reviewer to change or remove a review.
[COUNSEL TO REVIEW: review and endorsement rules (e.g. FTC guidance on consumer reviews and testimonials) and how they are reflected here]
4. Prohibited content and conduct
- unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive content;
- hateful, harassing, threatening, or sexually explicit content;
- content that infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark, or privacy;
- unsolicited advertising or bulk messages sent through platform messaging;
- malware, or attempts to probe, scrape, overload, or bypass the platform’s security;
- collecting or reselling directory content or other users’ information;
- creating accounts or listings to evade a suspension.
5. How we moderate
Listings are reviewed before they go live. Reviews and other content can be reported, and a moderator decides whether to keep, hide, or remove it. We may pause a listing, remove content, or suspend an account that breaks these rules. Moderation decisions are recorded.
[OWNER TO CONFIRM: moderation response times, and whether the person affected is notified and can appeal]
6. Reporting a problem
A review can be reported for one of these reasons: personal information, hate or harassment, wrong business, conflict of interest, or spam. Until a report button is available on reviews, report them through the Contact page as below.
To report a listing (for example a badge, licence number, or claim that looks wrong) or any other content, use the details on the Contact page. Tell us the listing name and what you believe is wrong.
