Every badge is a document
A listing does not go live until a reviewer has looked at the paperwork behind each claim. Here is what we ask for, what each badge means, how staff check it, and where the limits are.
Badge definitions
What each badge means
Each badge is shown with the date staff approved it. Badges with an expiry drop off the listing when that date passes.
Veteran-Owned
Reviewed: Documents the business submitted to show it is veteran-owned, reviewed and approved by Sleeves Up staff.
Expiry: Shown with the date it was approved.
Licensed
Reviewed: A state or local trade license document submitted by the business, reviewed and approved by Sleeves Up staff. The issuing state may be shown; license numbers are not published, so confirm the license with the issuing board.
Expiry: Carries an expiry date. The badge drops off the listing when that date passes, until a renewal is reviewed and approved.
Insured
Reviewed: A certificate of general liability insurance submitted by the business, reviewed and approved by Sleeves Up staff. Coverage amounts and limits are not part of the badge, so ask the business for its current certificate.

Background Checked

Accredited / VA-Approved Program (schools)

What we don’t check
The limits of a badge
Verification means a reviewer approved the submitted documents on the date shown. It is not a guarantee of workmanship, price, safety, or outcome, and it does not make Sleeves Up. Builders a party to your project.
Sleeves Up doesn’t run background checks. License numbers and insurance coverage amounts are not published, so confirm a license with the issuing state board and ask the business for its current certificate of insurance before you sign anything.
